Week 3 – If You Can Dodge A Wrench, You Can Dodge A Ball

To be honest, this last past Sunday’s webinar, left me feeling like, “If You Can Dodge A Wrench, You Can Dodge A Ball” scene in Dodgeball A True Underdog Story, when Mark pointed out the worst kind of Control Freak is the Indecisive Perfectionist. You know, the person that can point out and solve everyone else’s problems EXCEPT their own. The reason why it felt like a Wrench in the face for me is that I AM a Indecisive Perfectionist.

Why I have brought up my indecisiveness is because it is why I think I am struggling with my DMP. I’m just not entirely sure what to write!

On the flip side, I do see where my PPNs, (which is Autonomy and Recognition for Creative Expression) come into play in my life right now. I realize that I am motivated more by recognition than money. I understand why money is important in life, it’s just that I don’t have the ‘fire in my belly’ to earn it. As for Autonomy I don’t want to be pinned to a 9-6 Job for 40+ years. I can’t stand to feel as though I’m “trapped”, trading my time for dimes if I did. I feel my time is much more precious than that!

My DMP is something I am really looking forward to nailing down. I’m tired of going through my days lost and not having direction. And lets face it if you can’t clearly see what you want out of life, how can you know what road to travel? Sounds pretty impossible right? Hence why this is something I am looking to achieve while on this Journey with MKMMA. I want to be a decision maker that is slow to change his mind after a decision is made. To become decisive of what I want and see it clearly. I find that my indecisiveness is a good chunk of concrete that is covering my Golden Buddha and I am willing to put in the time to chisel it off.

  1. Very insightful Dillon. Your last paragraph reminds me of this exchange from Alice In Wonderland,
Alice: Oh, no, no. I was just wondering if you could help me find my way.
Cheshire Cat: Well that depends on where you want to get to.
Alice: Oh, it really doesn’t matter, as long as…
Cheshire Cat: Then it really doesn’t matter which way you go.

Sounds like you’re on your way to finding the right direction. Congrats! Mahalo!

  2. Dillon…I felt I had been slapped upside the head at that very same comment by Mark J. How indecision is the worst type of control freak….I was stunned when he said that. And then he goes on to say, that indecision is a by product of “sloth”…the last thing I thought of myself is that I’m lazy or slothful, but in pondering those statements for a few hours after the webinar, I had to admit to myself….I’m guilty as charged!—I really like your site by the way! did you create it or go for the hosted site that Heather is offering?

  3. Yo – Dillon! LOL…Thank you for being soooo candid. I totally get where you are coming from as money never was a motivator for me…Your PPNs are also the same as mine…that was delightful to see. Since money is not a motivator, even more important to uncover your bliss, define what lights you up, connect to the “I” and allow what you love to surface. Honor what you see. You said it loud and clear, creativity motivates you and being acknowledged for it does too. The money will come. I want to acknowledge you for your creativity with this blog! You truly are a creative soul and I have enjoyed reading your sharings immensely.

  4. Hi Dennis! After that comment Mark said socked in, I’ve bite my tongue and admit the very same thing, especially when it comes to what I want out of life. Knowing that I believe it helps me to get my DMP clearer.

I didn’t go with Heathers offer on the hosted site, My Mom and I host and create our own websites, majority of them we’ve created are WordPress based, so knowing how to set it up before hand, it was pretty easy to start our MKMMA blogs. The really big difference though is that our MKMMA blogs has a newer WordPress version than our other WordPress based blogs and sites, there’s a few new features I am not quite familiar with, but I think it’s easy to figure out.
